Veterinary Prescription Origination — in Development

VetScript is being built as the veterinary prescription origination platform that pairs with AnimalRx for pharmacy routing. The product is in active development; specific regulatory features (DEA Schedule tracking, state PDMP integration, EPCS certification, controlled-substance workflows) are gated by licensing milestones and are not available today.

What We're Building

A three-stage pipeline from prescription origination to pharmacy fulfillment. The stages below describe target capabilities — not features available today.

1

Write

Originate a structured prescription from the patient record. Drug, dose, species, weight, and route captured in a validated format — not free-text fields.

2

Verify

Verify the prescribing veterinarian's license against The Vet Registry before authorization. (DEA registration verification is part of the Q4 2026 controlled-substance milestone.)

3

Route

Route the verified prescription to the chosen pharmacy through AnimalRx. Fulfillment confirmation returns to the patient record automatically.

Targeted Capabilities

Structured data, validated dosing, and pharmacy interoperability. Targets — not current features.

Clinical (planned)

Structured Rx Format and Interaction Screening

The target architecture validates every prescription field — drug name from a vetted formulary, dose in range for species and weight, route confirmed for the dosage form. Interaction screening against the patient's active medication list is part of the same milestone.

  • Species-specific formulary with dose range validation (planned)
  • Drug-interaction screening against patient medication list (planned)
  • Breed-specific contraindication alerts (planned)
E-Prescribing (planned)

Pharmacy Routing via AnimalRx

Routing into the AnimalRx pharmacy network is part of the target architecture. Cryptographic signing (EPCS-compliant, vet-key-signed) is a Patent 3 milestone gated by federal licensing.

  • Pharmacy routing via AnimalRx network (planned)
  • Refill authorization tracking (planned)
  • Client notification when prescription is ready (planned)

Regulatory Roadmap

Controlled-substance workflows, state-level reporting, and EPCS certification are licensing-gated. We're stating what we're aiming for, not what we have today.

Controlled-Substance Workflows — Future (Patent 3, Q4 2026 target)

DEA-Schedule-aware workflows (Schedule II–V handling, refill rules, prescriber-DEA verification) are part of the Patent 3 build. This requires DEA Form 224 registration, state-by-state pharmacy licensing, EPCS certification, and Surescripts onboarding. Not available today.

State Prescription Monitoring (PDMP) — Future

PDMP reporting integrations are state-specific and require per-state certifications. We will publish a state-by-state availability map at launch. No state integrations are live today.

Record-Keeping — Today

Prescriptions are stored as structured records with a complete activity log (draft, authorization, routing). The signature column today is a tracking hash, NOT a cryptographic signature; cryptographic signing arrives with Patent 3.

Audit Trail — Today

Every action — draft, authorization, routing — is logged with timestamp and user identity at the time of action.

Integration

VetScript works with the platforms veterinarians already use — no separate login, no duplicate data entry.

Platform

Native Integration with urVetMD

Prescriptions originate directly from SOAP notes in urVetMD. The patient record, active medication list, and weight are pre-populated. No copy-paste between systems.

  • One-click Rx origination from the visit record
  • Fulfillment status visible in the patient timeline
  • Refill requests handled within the same workflow
PIMS

PIMS and Pharmacy Network Compatibility

VetScript connects with ezyVet, Cornerstone, AVImark, and Vetspire via the urVetMD PIMS integration layer. Pharmacy routing runs through the AnimalRx network — covering independent and chain pharmacies nationwide.

  • PIMS patient records populate prescription fields automatically
  • AnimalRx pharmacy network for routing and fulfillment
  • Open network — no pharmacy exclusivity requirements
